Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a scan cost?

Scanning your bill is completely free. No credit card required.

What if no errors are found?

If your bill is accurate, we will tell you. No charge, no obligation.

What does BillRazor charge?

We charge 20% of the reduction, capped at $499 — only if we successfully reduce your bill. No savings = no fee.

Is my information safe?

Yes. We are fully HIPAA-compliant. All data is encrypted with bank-level security (AES-256) at rest and in transit. We only access billing information — never your clinical records.

How long does it take to get results?

The bill scan takes under a minute. If you authorize us to negotiate, most cases are resolved within 2 to 6 weeks. We handle all follow-ups — you just wait for the result.

Can I use this if I already paid my bill?

Yes. If your hospital is a nonprofit, federal law may require them to refund payments made by patients who qualify for financial assistance — even after the bill has been paid. We also recover overpayments from coding errors and duplicate charges. Upload your bill and we will check your eligibility. Already-paid cases are handled through our Full Service only.

What if my bill is a summary without individual charges?

If your bill only shows a total amount without itemized charges, we will let you know and explain how to request an itemized bill from your provider. Many providers are required to furnish itemized billing information upon request — requirements vary by state and situation. BillRazor can request one on your behalf.

Do I have to talk to the hospital?

No. Once you authorize us, we handle all communication with the hospital. You never need to make a phone call, write a letter, or sit on hold. We take care of everything.
